Use whole sign houses to find three timing signals—one birth-chart-personal, one annual, one fast—so you can make a clear commitment decision about a project you’re considering.
This guide accompanies the essay “I. How I Use Astrology to Collapse Time.” The essay’s argument is: astrology can show you what season you are in, how long the season lasts, and what the season is asking so you can meet it. We’ll locate three transits in your own chart using whole sign houses.

What you’ll need
Whole sign houses assign one full sign to one full house, starting with the sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth (your Ascendant). In this method, the Ascendant’s sign is the entire 1st house; the next sign is the entire 2nd house; and so on, in zodiacal order. This guide uses whole sign houses because the timing techniques in the essay—especially profections—are built to work cleanly with whole sign house logic.

Most chart software defaults to Placidus. If you don’t change the house system, you will not be looking at the same house structure this guide is describing. Confirm that your chart is set to Whole Sign before you continue.
