Step One: as a group, add words to our Work Bank — language that you found exciting or interesting while we read poems and listened to introductions.

Step Two: Write a poem or lyric essay in the “shape” of one of the example poems that

• utilizes many or all of the words from the word bank
• acts as an introduction of yourself to the world (or, maybe, a smaller audience)
• describes your September 8th this year versus other years of your life
• follows the structure of a poem you love replacing each type of word with a word from the word bank
• or… all of these together :)
